Dog licks up world record with longest tongue

An eight-year-old dog from the US has been named the Guinness World Record holder for the longest tongue.

Mochi Rickert, a St Bernard breed, has a tongue measuring a whopping 18.58 centimetres.

Her owners, Carla and Craig Rickert, said they love her “unconditionally despite that crazy long tongue”.

Ms Rickert told Reuters Mochi loved peanut butter so much, they used it to encourage her to stick her tongue out, just to show how long it was.  

Mochi was rescued by the Rickert family when she was two years old.

While Mochi holds the current record, the longest ever dog tongue measured 43cm.
