Dog shot with arrows by meat hunter in China makes remarkable recovery

A small dog which was shot with two arrows by a meat hunter in China is making a remarkable recovery.

The dog, which was pierced by arrows in its shoulder and neck last week, was reportedly rushed to Chengdu's Qimin Small Animal Protection by a witness after it had been injured, the Guardians of Chinese Animal Protection said in a Facebook post.

"The suffering of the dog angered millions of animal lovers in China," the post reads.

"In the last 12 hours, thousands of people asked about the dog. The dog was also in the prayers of animal lovers around the world."

The shelter where the dog was taken is reportedly home to more than 1000 cats and dogs that have been violently abused by meat hunters in China.

"The dog meat trade is the source of suffering to millions of dogs and tens of millions of animal lovers in China," Guardians of Chinese Animal Protection said.

"China can never be a world leader if this barbaric trade is not outlawed."

The organisation’s mission is to shut down illegal animal slaughterhouses across the country.
