Young boy mauled by dog in Western Australia

A young boy has been airlifted to hospital after he was mauled by a dog in Western Australia.

Police say the eight-year-old boy was bitten by a friend's dog at a campground in Gnarloo, near Carnarvon, just after 7.30am on Saturday.

The boy received injuries to his face and head.

He was taken to Carnarvon Hospital before he was airlifted to Perth for further medical treatment.

The boy's injuries are not life-threatening.
