A doctor has been charged over the alleged indecent assault of a female patient at a medical centre in Miranda in Sydney’s south.

Police will allege the 25-year-old patient was indecently assaulted during a consultation at the Miranda Medical Centre on March 27.

The 43-year-old doctor graduated from NSW University in 1999 and has worked as a general practitioner for more than a decade.

9NEWS understands in 2015, NSW Health issued the doctor with a prohibition order, prohibiting him from “supplying or having drugs of addiction” and issuing “a prescription for a drug addiction”.

Today, patients outside Miranda Medical Centre said they were shocked to learn of the arrest.

Meanwhile, the practice declined to comment on whether the doctor had been stood down pending the court case, or if he was continuing to treat patients.

Miranda Medical Centre also chose to not answer questions on whether patients had been notified.

The doctor was arrested at his Connells Point home yesterday, before being granted strict conditional bail.

He will face Sutherland Local Court on Thursday.
