Diver captures 'scary' rare encounter great white shark near Bali

A diver near Bali has captured the terrifying moment a lone great white shark swam past him and a group of other divers and shared it online.

In the video uploaded by user Fabian Clinton to Facebook, the divers can be heard cheering as they sight the creature, before the shark turns and swims toward them, then swims away.

"I can't believe it," Clinton's caption reads.

"This is beyond the holy grail of diving."

The divers captured the shark in a video shared to Facebook.  Facebook

"A huge great white shark passed us and then turned on us on one of the local dive sites in Penida today," he wrote.

"Front seat with my shaky gopro. Amazing and scary."

Great white sharks are very uncommon in the waters surrounding Penida Island in Indonesia, with other shark species like the reef shark and thresher shark more frequently sighted.
