Disgraced ex-MP Scott Driscoll sentenced for corruption

Disgraced former Queensland MP Scott Driscoll is set to find out how long he will spend behind bars for soliciting secret commissions.

The former state member for Redcliffe was arrested in 2014 but only taken into custody on Monday before his sentencing for 15 fraud-related offences in the Brisbane District Court on Friday.

Driscoll pleaded guilty in November to soliciting hundreds of thousands of dollars in secret commissions from supermarkets in 2011 and 2012.

The Crown has called on him to be jailed for six years, while defence barrister Kylie Hillard has asked for a four-and-a-half-year sentence, suspended after six or 12 months due to Driscoll's mental and physical health issues.
