Disappointing Tas result focuses premier

Tasmania's Liberal premier Will Hodgman insists that the issues which likely cost the state's federal coalition MPs their seats are his core focus.

The party's lower house representation in Tasmania was wiped out on Saturday with the loss of three seats and feedback from the electorate suggests the result was at least in part a backlash to the coalition's health and education policy and funding.

"We are well aware that the main issues concerning Tasmania in health and education and more job prospects were issues that were also at play at a federal level and my message to Tasmanians is we understand they are important issues ... and that's why we're focusing our efforts on improving things," Mr Hodgman told reporters on Monday.
