Australia's human rights watchdog maintains people with disabilities will still have a voice despite budget cuts claiming one of its commissioners.

This week's federal budget reduced the number of commissioners from seven to six to save $1.7 million over four years.

The term of disability commissioner Graeme Innes expires in July and he won't be replaced.

"I will see to it that we ensure people with disabilities have a voice," she said in a statement on Friday.
