The deaths of a disabled pensioner couple whose bodies were found in their Melbourne house are no longer being treated as suspicious.

Police discovered the bodies of Katrina, 50, and her husband Christopher, 47, inside their home after doing a welfare check on Sunday night.

Homicide detectives are no longer investigating after an autopsy was completed and found their deaths were not suspicious, Victoria Police spokeswoman Cath Allen said.

The investigation will be handled by local detectives, she said.

Police were initially looking at murder-suicide as a possible avenue.

A concerned relative contacted police who were called to the property, just after 7pm (AEDT) on Sunday.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
