One hundred diamond rings hidden in Brisbane treasure hunt

It could be Brisbane's biggest treasure hunt. 

The city is set to sparkle during the Brisbane Festival.

Organisers have teamed up with Wallace Bishop to create the city’s biggest treasure hunt with $120,000 worth of diamonds and cubic zirconia rings up for grabs.

Between September 9 and 30, the Wallace Bishop Treasure Hunt will see 100 ring boxes hidden throughout the city.

"They might be placed in bits, you know, where it makes you discover something of the city as well and of the festival,” festival artistic director Davod Berthold said.

“There's kind of two discoveries going on there."

Each ring box contains a ring, valued at $200 along with a lucky ticket to redeem a diamond valued at $1000.

Wallace Bishop took part in the treasure hunt as part of its 100th birthday milestone celebration.

"One hundred years in business, which is a milestone for our family and Brisbane,” Stuart Bishop, a third-generation jeweller whose own two sons also now work in the family business, said.

“We've been around for a while and it’s good to be giving back to the local community with this exciting part of what's going on," he said.

Both Wallace Bishop and the Brisbane Festival will be posting clues of where to find the boxes over the next fortnight.

Brisbane festival runs from September 9 to 30, culminating in the Sunsuper Riverfire fireworks display.
