Bizarre new details emerge into alleged kidnapping of Brisbane teacher

A New South Wales court has heard new details about the death of a Brisbane school teacher who was allegedly kidnapped before getting hit by a semi-trailer in February 2020.

The court heard St Peters Lutheran College teacher Anthony Stott had been speeding down the M1 highway south of Brisbane at 130km/h in the early hours of February 10.

It was heard Stott was driving with his headlights off before veering off the road and abandoning his vehicle.

Instead of calling for help, Stott left his phone and wallet in his car with the keys in the ignition, before wandering up to a nearby rural farmhouse near Cudgera Creek in northern NSW.

It was heard Craig Button was sleeping in his car on the property at the time.

He told the court he was woken by his friend, Mark Frost who yelled "we've got an intruder".

Frost and Button told the court they were drinking with Lauren Grainger, a resident of the property, before the visitation.

Button told the court he tied Stott to a chair before the trio interrogated him about what he was doing on the property.

The court heard Grainger brandished a golf club, hitting the concrete and legs of the chair.

Stott was eventually released and told "not to come back".

Frost and Button told the court they heard a loud thud minutes after Stott left the property.

It was later discovered he had been fatally hit by a semi-trailer while approaching the highway.

Grainger is currently facing charges of aggravated kidnapping and causing bodily harm.

She has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The trial continues.
