Major breakthrough in case of father buried in shallow grave

A man has been arrested in relation to the death of a father who was found in a shallow bush grave in Western Australia.

Dean Patrick White mysteriously disappeared 12 months ago without a trace until his body was found just over a month ago in a bush grave 160 kilometres east of Perth.

Robert Troy Scanlon, 45, was met by armed officers today as he touched down in Perth after being extradited from Brisbane today.

He's been charged with interfering with a corpse.

Homicide detectives will allege Mr Scanlon buried Mr White in the bush grave.

Detectives say they still believe Mr White was murdered but need more evidence to lay a charge.

Mr White was last seen in the tiny wheatbelt town of Quairading.

Authorities suspected foul play when they found his car dumped in Highvale, Queensland last June.

He also had unusual activity in his bank account.

Mr Scanlon faced Brisbane Magistrates court yesterday after being been held at Queensland's Woodford correctional facility.

He'll spend tonight in the Perth lock up and face Northbridge Magistrate's court tomorrow.
