WHAT THE COALITION WANTS TO TALK ABOUT

Mr Morrison will formally announce $100 million in funding for cancer and mental health services in the Queensland region along with criticial hospital infrastructure.

WHAT LABOR WANTS TO TALK ABOUT:

Mr Shorten will outlline $1 billion package for environemtal initiatives, inblcuding measures to protect native animals and reduce single-use plastics.

WHAT IS MAKING NEWS:

* Mr Shorten narrowly won the second leaders debate in Brisbane where discussion centred on domestic violence, taxes, religious freedom, mental health, education, budget surpluses and climate change.

* Activist group GetUp is issuing how-to-vote cards in 29 seats aimed at the issues of health and climate action.

* The number of Australians killed on the nation's roads grew by 19 per cent in the three months to March, prompting a call from the Australian Automobile Association for decisive action from the federal government.
