David Warner heads back to the cricket pitch after ball-tampering scandal

Former Australian cricket captain David Warner has stepped back onto the pitch just over a month after the ball-tampering scandal.

Warner braved the Darwin heat to meet with local children to show them a thing or two about cricket.

It’s one of the first times the disgraced cricketer has been seen since his 12-month ban.

Warner is taking part in the DriveAbout program, where he’s come on board as a safety ambassador.

He will spend time in the Northern Territory working with children in Arnhem Land to talk to community representatives about how can assist with the development of indigenous cricket and indigenous cricketers in remote communities.

“This year I want to spend as much time focusing on giving those less exposure and less opportunities the belief that they can make it at the highest level,” Warner said.

He is expected to travel across the Top End and said he’s looking forward to the trip to the communities.
