Marathon police chase caught on camera

A high-speed police chase across Brisbane’s south has played out in front of cameras and shocked witnesses.

Dash-cam on an innocent driver’s vehicle was first to capture a stolen white Mercedes-Benz hurtling down Toohey Road, Tarragindi, about 2.45pm yesterday.

The luxury car is shown weaving between traffic, and nearly hits an oncoming vehicle.

Moments later, a string of police cars can be seen in hot pursuit of the Mercedes, with sirens blazing.

During the chase, the offending vehicle allegedly crashed into the rear of two other stationary cars at the Old Cleveland Road exit.

Police finally caught up with the Mercedes at a driveway at a dead end street in Mount Gravatt.

The driver attempted to flee, but was caught by a police dog and bitten on the arm at Mount Gravatt Show Grounds.

“He ran off towards a tent…the dog ran up, caught him and police apprehended (the man) just near a wheelie bin.”

The 22-year-old driver was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital.

He is currently being questioned by police, and charges are yet to be laid.
