Two more Darwin mass shooting victims identified

Two more victims of Darwin’s deadliest mass shooting on Tuesday have been identified.

Michael Sisois, a 57-year-old, was at the Buff Club when he was allegedly shot and killed in the car park.

9News understands Mr Sisois had lived in Darwin his whole life, and his family is devastated by the news.

Rob Courtney was also killed during shooting spree, which allegedly took place at the hands of Ben Hoffmann, who is in police custody.

Mr Courtney, 52, was gunned down in front of his housemate Johnny Reid in Jolly St, Woolner.

The New Zealand national was employed at the Mindi Beach Casino Resort as a security guard.

“We have also offered our assistance to Police with their investigations, should it be required.”

The first victim to be identified was taxi driver Hassan Baydoun, 33, who is originally from Lebanon.

Mr Baydoun had been driving his taxi but returned home to his studio apartment in McMinn St on Tuesday evening for a meal break.

In what appears to be a tragic case of bad timing, he was there at the time the suspected gunman was allegedly going from room to room inside the building, firing his gun and shouting the name of a man - 'Alex' - according to witness Matthew James.

Mr Baydoun, 33, moved to Darwin from Lebanon 10 years ago, his cousin and fellow Darwin resident Abdallah Salman told AAP.

He had completed a bachelors as well as a masters degree in IT and was taking a break before starting his PhD.

"He was a lovely person, he had a good heart. He was a very easy-going person who was always smiling, a very happy person who didn't have any enemies and his friends loved him," Mr Salman told AAP.

"As we know now he was accidentally caught up in this, I have no idea but it looks like it was a random shooting.

"I don't think he knows the guy or anything. The guy was looking for someone called 'Alex' and he just got the wrong people."

Mr Baydoun had been working as a driver for Blue Taxis, and it mourned the loss of one of its “beloved” employees.

“Our Company is heartbroken and his colleagues are in a state of shock. This is not what our city stands for. Someone shot having a meal break while going about their own business.

“We pray that we never have to witness anything like this ever again.

“We mourn him and honour him. Our sincerest condolences and prays to his family and friends RIP, Hassan.”

The alleged gunman, Darwin man Ben Hoffmann, 45, was dragged from a ute, tasered and arrested by police about 100 metres from where Mr Baydoun was shot dead.

A group of about a dozen distraught men who were friends and relatives, including Mr Salman, gathered after the shooting outside the Palms Hotel where Mr Baydoun lived, with many in tears.

Mr Baydoun's two brothers used to live in Darwin but returned to Lebanon where his parents live.

His cousin, Haidar Baydoun, posted in Arabic on Facebook "God has mercy on you, cousin".

Ali Malik wrote "very sorry for your loss brother, he had nothing but smiles every time I spoke to him".

The fourth victim, who is yet to be identified, was a 75-year-old man.

The alleged gunman is expected to be charged with four counts of murder this afternoon.
