Brawl in Darwin leaves security guard chasing after his own buggy

A 3am brawl in the city of Darwin involved a woman being dropped on the ground by a security guard, as a man took off with a guard's buggy.

The brawl broke out on Smith Street when Jack Wachtel and his mates, who were sitting at McDonald's, noticed and flicked out a phone.

"They started having a brawl so I got the cameras out and next thing you know he's on the buggy and out of there," he exclusively told 9News.

"Gone. He took off, braked hard around Maccas and then just took off… He's just said 'see ya later'."

You can hear Mr Wachtel laughing as a security officer soon realises and legs it up the street after his buggy alongside a patron.

But the man on the buggy was too quick, making tracks along Knuckey Street.

"About an hour and a half later we just seen them (security officers) cruising on the buggy and everyone was sitting around giving him a big cheer for getting that buggy back. It was funny as," Mr Wachtel said.

Another video has since emerged online from the same night which shows security guards from the same company, Territory Protective Services, dropping a woman.

Today, it's been confirmed that company is contracted by government-funded body Activate Darwin.

Police say a 20-year-old woman assaulted a 21-year-old man and she has since been arrested and charged with assault.
