Dan Sultan postpones tour after 'inexcusable' performance

Dan Sultan has halted his national tour in wake of a disastrous performance in Cairns.

In video shared to social media, the Aussie artist appears to slur his words while performing with his guitar during his concert on Saturday night.

Dozens of fans left the show as a result of the singer’s performance, with one concertgoer telling ABC News it “was profoundly sad to watch such a great artist in such a poor condition.”

Following the backlash, the singer has postponed the remainder of his Killer Solo Tour.

“We apologise to Dan’s fans for any inconvenience this may cause. Dan’s health and wellbeing is our highest priority at this time and we thank you for your ongoing understanding and support,” a statement posted on Sultan’s Facebook page this afternoon read.

Fans who have already bought tickets have been encouraged to hold on to their tickets “which will be valid for entry to the rescheduled shows”.

The cancellation comes after Sultan apologised for his conduct in Cairns in a separate post yesterday.

“My behaviour was inexcusable and disrespectful… I am taking stock of my personal situation and am seeking professional help.”

The 34-year-old has previously discussed his problems with alcohol and partying, telling the Illawarra Mercury in 2014 he has “had a bit too much fun at times, but that’s who I am.”
