Cyclist strikes power pole, dies in WA

A man riding a bike fitted with a small petrol engine has died after crashing into a power pole in Perth.

A passer-by discovered the cyclist unconscious on the side of a road in the suburb of West Swan on Friday night.

The man, who is yet to be identified, was airlifted to the Royal Perth Hospital where he died on Saturday morning, a police spokeswoman said.
