Cyclist charged with assault and robbery

A man is behind bars charged with assaulting and robbing a motorist after crashing his bike into the other man's parked car on the NSW Central Coast.

Police say a 38-year-old man was sitting in his car at North Gosford at about noon on Tuesday when the crash happened.

The 32-year-old cyclist then allegedly threatened the driver before punching him through the open window.

Police say the cyclist then got into the vehicle and threatened the driver with a bicycle lock before forcing him to drive to a shopping centre in Wyoming to withdraw cash, which he then took.

He was then allegedly forced to drop the cyclist off at Gosford railway station.

Police were called to the station where they located and arrested the 32-year-old man.

He has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon, take/detain person with intent to obtain advantage and custody of an offensive implement in a public place.

The man was refused bail to appear in Gosford Local Court on Wednesday.
