Prosecutors have abandoned a manslaughter trial against a man accused of killing an acquaintance with a single punch.

Stephen Barry Chapman pleaded not guilty to manslaughter but admitted throwing the blow that led to the death of Sean Woods, who had drunkenly attacked him and threatened to kill him in July 2014.

On Tuesday, the second day of the trial in the Supreme Court in Brisbane, the Crown decided not to pursue the case further and the charge was dropped.
