Former PM Bob Hawke sculls a beer at the Sydney Cricket Ground

Former Prime Minister Bob Hawke has made a tradition of sculling a beer at the Sydney Cricket Ground, today repeating the feat he performed in 2012.

Channel Nine footage shows Mr Hawke raising his beer in preparation, and the stadium screen then cut to show him sculling the glass.

Mr Hawke, an avid cricket fan, attended the stadium to watch day two of the Test Series between Australia and Pakistan.

The 87-year-old served as Australia’s prime minister from 1983 to 1991, and is also known for once holding the world record for the fastest-drinking of a yard of beer.

He downed a sconce pot in 11 seconds as part of an Oxford college penalty.

Cricket fans today took to Twitter to celebrate Mr Hawke’s sculling, with many praising his laidback attitude.
