Former MP Craig Thomson granted bail over fraud charges
Former federal Labor MP Craig Thomson has been granted bail after spending a night in the cells at Gosford Police Station.
The 57-year-old was arrested at his Central Coast home yesterday and is now facing 30 charges.
Most of these relate to more than 130 allegedly fraudulent visa applications over four years that are said to have netted $2 million.

If found guilty, he could face as much as 10 years in jail.
AFP Assistant Commander Craig Bellis said yesterday the charges involved a serious breach of public trust.
Search warrants were executed on properties in nearby Wamberal, Terrigal and Copacabana, as well as in East Maitland, the Sydney suburbs of Rockdale and Revesby, and the Queensland town of Bundaberg West.
The investigation involved units from the AFP, Border Force, AUSTRAC, the Australian Taxation Office and the Department of Home Affairs.
