Crackdown on union rights of entry

The federal government is making a new attempt to reduce trade union rights of entry to workplace sites.

The measure was originally part of wide-ranging changes to workplace relations.

But in the interests of getting most through the Senate, the contentious right-of-entry changes, with five others, were dropped.

Assistant Minister Karen Andrews on Thursday introduced legislation to implement the omitted measures.

She said the government looked forward to constructive discussions with the Senate crossbench "on these fair reforms that will bring balance back to the workplace system".
