Canstar Blue has calculated how a family of four can save up to $300 a month by making changes to how they use appliances.
Some examples include cutting down the usage of electric and gas heaters, which can save hundreds each month.

Another way to save is by putting three loads of washing in the dryer instead of eight each week, which could save about $20 per month.
