A young woman is recovering in hospital after she suffered a heart attack during her cosmetic surgery at a Sydney clinic.

The Cosmetic Institute said a 22-year-old woman was at its Bondi clinic undergoing a cosmetic operation, reportedly a breast enlargement procedure, when she entered cardiac arrest.

She was stabilised by the medical team, before being rushed by NSW emergency crews to St Vincent's Hospital in a serious condition on Wednesday afternoon.

The woman was now stable and had been moved out of the intensive care unit, a hospital spokesman said on Thursday.

TCI denied claims that improper use of anaesthetic may have caused the incident.

"We are deeply concerned about this patient's complication and it is important to remember that all surgery, whether cosmetic or not, carries with it risks," TCI said in a statement on Thursday.

The NSW Health Care Complaints Commission confirmed it was investigating TCI over procedures performed at the clinics.

Earlier this year, another woman was hospitalised after she underwent a similar operation at TCI in Parramatta, the ABC reported.
