The Liberal defector is seeking members for his new Australian Conservatives party, encouraging people to sign up now for just $25.

"Starting a new political movement is not for the faint of heart," the senator writes in his pitch.

"It's going to take a lot of time, resources and determination but we simply have to find a better way for our nation."

Australian Conservatives has a vision for "stronger families, fostering free enterprise, limiting the size, scope and reach of government whilst rebuilding civil society".

The party is yet to seek formal registration with the Australian Electoral Commission.
