No new cases, deaths in Victoria but two potential hot spots emerge

Victoria has reported no new coronavirus cases or deaths for the 12th day straight, but two major Melbourne sites have been flagged as possible at-risk areas.

A woman who travelled from Melbourne to South Australia has tested positive for the virus, and is understood to have visited Melbourne Central on Sunday afternoon and Melbourne Airport on Monday afternoon.

It is believed the woman is shedding the virus from a previous infection, but anyone who was at the shopping complex or airport on those days should get tested.

Two more positive tests have been detected in Melbourne in people who also previously had the virus, but are cases of shedding and not infectious according to Health Minister Martin Foley. Both individuals are self-isolating.

The three cases will not be counted towards Victoria's official COVID case tally.

There are four active cases in the state, including one case with an unknown source in the last two weeks.

Almost 20,000 Victorians were tested for the virus yesterday.

Meanwhile, 9News understands Queensland's border could be opened to Victoria by Christmas.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is said to be keeping a close eye on coronavirus cases in Greater Sydney, with a decision due in late November.
