Victoria records another day of zero locally-acquired COVID-19 cases

Victoria has recorded another "donut day", registering zero locally acquired cases of COVID-19 from more than 20,000 tests.

Today marks four days in a row without a new local case.

In the past 24 hours to midnight, Victoria recorded just one case in an overseas traveller who is currently in managed quarantine.

The results come from 20,441 tests as the state manages 23 currently active cases of the virus.

More than 15,000 doses of the vaccine were issued in the past 24 hours, bringing the states total to more than 1.1 million.

Victoria's low case numbers come as a number of states work to cut down increasing clusters of the virus.

The state's COVID-19 response commander Jeroen Weimar yesterday warned that "the hard work isn't over" despite the lack of new cases.

Mr Weimar said authorities now needed to be "very active", with tens of thousands of Victorians returning from red and orange zones around the country.

Authorities, including ADF personnel, are continuing to conduct at-home checks for people in isolation.
