No new coronavirus cases in Queensland as restrictions lifted on hospital and aged care visits

Queensland has recorded no new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, as a new mass vaccination hub opens in Brisbane.

Queensland Health Minister Yvette D'Ath said restrictions on visits to hospitals, aged care centres and disability facilities will be lifted immediately in the Logan area.

"We'll still have requirements around masks of course," Ms D'Ath said.

"It is great to be able to let people go visit their loved ones in a hospital or aged care and disability facilities again."

Ms D'Ath said 53.76 per cent of Queenslanders have had their first dose of a vaccine, and over 35 per cent of eligible Queenslanders are now fully vaccinated.

There are 17 active cases in the state, while 13,036 daily tests were done.

The Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Boondall will deliver 1500 vaccines each day.

Queensland officials gave their daily update from the new centre this morning.

By next week, it's hoped the hub will be able to give 3000 jabs per day before ramping up to 6000 jabs a day in the future.

The hub, which is open seven days a week, is targeting those living in Brisbane and its surrounds.

Pfizer doses are being administered there with some capacity for second AstraZeneca doses.

Vaccine push

Yesterday Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk urged Queenslanders to get vaccinated before the highly contagious Delta variant enters.

"Don't delay, get vaccinated," Ms Palaszczuk said.

"There is a window of opportunity to get as many Queenslanders vaccinated as possible before the Delta virus gets here."

Currently, 53.33 per cent of Queenslanders have received their first dose, while 34.75 per cent are fully vaccinated.

From next week the Moderna vaccine will also be available in 1200 pharmacies across Queensland.

Yesterday the state recorded zero new cases of the virus.
