Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said she was poised to close the state's southern border if community transmission explodes in NSW, which recorded 14 new cases.
Ms Palaszczuk once again urged Queensland residents to rethink plans to travel to south.
"We will not hesitate to slam the borders shut if there is an outbreak of community transmission in Sydney," she said.
"I would advise Queenslanders at the moment to not travel to NSW."
There are six active coronavirus cases across the state.
