Parks, playgrounds to reopen across South Australia

Skate parks and playgrounds are to be re-opened in South Australia, as the government looks at easing COVID-19 restrictions state-wide.

Chief Public Health Officer Professor Nicola Spurrier said given these public spaces were outdoors, and equipment could be easily and regularly cleaned, the health risk was deemed lower.

However, social distancing rules will continue to apply.

The choice to close the public facilities had been made by individual councils, with no direction coming from a state level, Prof Spurrier said.

Councils would now be advised that parks would require warning signage and an update cleaning regimen.

With the news that for the 11th consecutive day South Australia had recorded no new cases, Premier Steven Marshall said the government had established a transition committee to look at relaxing restrictions over a period of time.

"When we look to ease the restrictions, we have to be firmly focused on the health risk," Mr Marshall said.

"We only get one shot at this."

There are just seven active COVID-19 cases in South Australia, with 427 people (98 percent) having recovered from the disease.

Three people remain in the hospital, but none are in intensive care.

More than 60,000 tests have been undertaken since February.
