A Saudi Arabian oil firm has come under fire after photos of an employee dressed as hand sanitiser dispenser circulated online.

Photos posted to social media showed the man, a migrant worker, standing inside a box dispensing disinfectant gel to fellow workers.

The employee was also wearing a mask and gloves.

The company, Saudi Aramco, has since issued a statement apologising for the gaffe, and stating "its strong dissatisfaction with this abusive behaviour".

"The company immediately stopped this act and took strict measures to prevent it from happening again,' the statement said.
