People urged to follow trusted sources after fake letter claims Sydney supermarkets will close
Authorities have urged people to get information from trusted sources after a fake notice claiming supermarkets in Sydney would be closing circulated on social media.
The letter, which appeared to have a doctored NSW Health letterhead, claimed shops would close for four days amid the coronavirus outbreak and ongoing lockdown.
NSW Health confirmed the notice was fake and that supermarkets remain open, with people allowed to leave home to shop.

"NSW Health is aware of incorrect public health advice circulating in the community and on social media regarding Greater Sydney restrictions," the authority posted on Facebook.
"Please use trusted and credible sources of information to find out what you can and can't do in Greater Sydney (including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour)."
