NSW on track to ease coronavirus restrictions next Friday - here is what to look forward to

Coronavirus restrictions across NSW will be relaxed next Friday pending "no evidence of community transmission".

Premier Gladys Berejikilian said she wanted to reassure the community restrictions around the four-square-metre rule for hospitality businesses would be relaxed.

"Any setting now, whether it's a hospitality venue or a place of worship that's subject to the four-square-metre rule will be subject to the two-square-metre rule," she said.

"I just wanted to give the community and give businesses that level of warning that unless there's a major issue that arises they can look forward to look forward to those opportunities," she said.

The premier said the state's mask mandate would also be reviewed over the next week, but the rules for public transport would likely remain place.

The state has recorded 17 days with zero cases of community transmission after more than 12,000 people were tested in the last 24 hours.

Current restrictions in Sydney

Below are some of the current restrictions for Greater Sydney, including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast and Wollongong. The full list is on the NSW Health website.

• 30 people are allowed to visit a house
• 50 people can gather in an outdoor setting
• 300 people can go to a wedding or a funeral, subject to four-square-metre rule
• Masks mandatory on public transport, airports and flights, places of worship
• Masks also mandatory in tattoo parlours, gaming areas and for hospitality staff
• One person per four square metres at hospitality venues

Current restrictions in the rest of NSW

Below are some of the current restrictions for the rest of the state. The full list is on the NSW Health website.

• 50 people are allowed to visit a house
• 100 people can gather in an outdoor setting
• There is no cap on the number of people allowed at weddings, subject to the two-square-metre rule
• There is no cap on the number of people allowed at funerals, subject to the two-square-metre rule
• There is no cap on the number of people allowed at hospitality venues, subject to the two-square-metre rule

What is likely to change

Ms Berejiklian said today restrictions in Greater Sydney would likely move into line with the rest of the state by next Friday, February 12.

Any settings currently subject to the four-square-metre rule will be changed to the two-square-metre rule.

This includes hospitality venues and places of worship.

The restrictions around masks are also likely to change next week.
