NSW has recorded just two new cases of coronavirus, both in hotel quarantine.

"For the first time in some months we had zero community transmission," NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said today.

She welcomed the news South Australia is opening its borders and has spoken to Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.

"I also received a call from the Queensland premier indicating that a number of local government areas would now be included in the border zones which means there's less stress for some of our communities in northern NSW," Ms Berejiklian said.

Ms Berejiklian called on her counterpart to extend the exemption to all of NSW given the low cases.

Earlier, Dr Jeremy McAnulty said there were 7765 tests in the last 24 hours and urged people to continue coming forward with even mild symptoms.

"If people don't come forward or testing then we can't keep the pandemic at bay," he said.
