Adelaide to 'spread out' New Year's Eve celebrations, including fireworks
Adelaide's traditional New Year's Eve celebrations will not be taking place this year, but people will still be encouraged to share in the community event.
COVID-19 has forced the cancellation of the usual extravaganza at Elder Park, which normally attracts crowds of up to 80,000.
The city council's new plans will see the party spread right across the city.

The 9pm fireworks will be scrapped. The midnight show will still take place, but in separate locations across the CBD.
More roads will also be closed to allow restaurants to set out more dining areas.
"We're trying to avoid any large gatherings," Lord Mayor Sandy Verschoor said.

"What we're going to do is spill into the streets, make sure there's lots of outdoor dining.
"We'll have live music, there will be a great pyrotechnics and lightning show at midnight."
The nearby City of Holdfast Bay is yet to reveal its plans for New Years Eve celebrations in Glenelg and Brighton.
