South Australian police to audit international travellers in 14-day isolation

South Australian police will conduct random audits of all international travellers who enter the state during the Federal Government's self-isolation coronavirus order in a bid to crackdown on any breaches.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced on Sunday all incoming international travellers must self-isolate for 14 days after entering Australia.

South Australia Premier Steven Marshall told reporters this morning anyone who fails to follow the self-isolation order will face consequences.

"SAPOL will be conducting random audits. We have the details of where the person will be self-isolating," Mr Marshall said.

"They will be checked up on. If they're not there, this will be an offence and there'll be escalating consequences of not doing that.

"We do this, and I make this point not to scare people, but people have got to take this pandemic very seriously."

He said while eight out of every 10 individual who contracts COVID-19 will recovery with very mild symptoms, the concern is those who pass on the respiratory illness to the vulnerable.

The Department of Health lists South Australia as having 32 confirmed cases of coronavirus.

There have been 454 confirmed cases of the disease in Australia, with 40 new cases reported  since yesterday.
