All cruise ships ordered to leave Queensland by midnight tomorrow

All cruise ships hovering off the coast of Queensland will be forced to leave the state's borders by midnight tomorrow night.

Nine ships had been idling in Queensland waters, however five had now left and there were four remaining who were still in the process of refueling, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said.

"If you do see a cruise ship at a port today or tomorrow, they are just refuelling and then they will be on their way," she said.

So far there were 119 COVID-19 cases related to cruise ships in NSW, however these had all arisen from cruise ships docking in other states, Ms Palaszczuk said.

Queensland Minister for Ports Mark Bailey said there had been no coronavirus infections via a Queensland port.

"All these cruise ships that are currently in Queensland waters have no passengers, they have only crew, and they will be required to leave by midnight tomorrow night," Mr Bailey said.

Queensland has recorded 13 new cases of COVID 19 overnight taking the state's total to 934.
