Cop hit with drug bag in Gold Coast raid

A police officer has been hit with a bag full of drugs thrown from a Gold Coast highrise apartment during a raid.

Police executed a search warrant on a 14th floor Surfers Paradise apartment over the weekend.

When officers arrived, one of the occupants allegedly threw a bag of drugs over the balcony, striking an officer on the ground below.

Officers seized amphetamines, drug utensils, a taser disguised as a mobile phone, counterfeit money and $7095 in cash.

Four people - three men aged 30, 39 and 40 and a 28-year-old woman - were charged with a range of offences, including possession of dangerous drugs, possession of counterfeit currency and possession of a taser.

Meanwhile, Gold Coast Major Organised Crime Squad detectives also raided a Burleigh storage facility at the weekend, seizing 2.5kg of cannabis and nine grams of white powder thought to be cocaine.

Officers also seized $290,845 in cash and equipment allegedly used in drug supply and trafficking.

A 54-year-old man will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Monday, charged with a range of drug offences.
