Convicted sex offender surrenders

A convicted sex offender has turned himself in to Queensland police after being on the run for days.

Stewart James Dawson surrendered to the Boondall station overnight on Thursday and was taken to the Brisbane watch house.

He was reported missing on Monday when his supervisor went to check on problems with his monitoring bracelet.

It's the second breakthrough for police in the last 24 hours.

Two inmates who escaped from a central Queensland prison were caught on Wednesday afternoon.

They were nabbed by police at Keppel Sands after they were spotted buying a six pack of beer at a nearby pub.

Tony Dwaine Morgan, 33, and Bradley Thomas Kuhl, 34, slid under a fence at the Capricornia Correctional Centre near Rockhampton on Sunday night.

Morgan was serving a life sentence for a 1999 murder in Bundaberg, while Kuhl was doing time for a 2011 armed robbery in Yeppoon.

Meanwhile, police are still on the hunt for drug dealer Howard Lindsay, who was reported missing from a work camp at Blackall, in central western Queensland, on Monday morning.
