Western Australia's plan to go its own way and reject the national disability insurance scheme is causing panic among advocates.

A cohort of disability groups has pleaded with the state government to sign onto the national scheme instead of a hybrid system with its My Way disability model.

"You cannot have a structure where people with disability on one side of the border in South Australia qualify for different supports than those 100 metres away in WA," Australian Federation of Disability Organisations chief Matthew Wright said.
