Commit to 2 degree goal: climate body
AAP
A climate action lobby group is calling on the federal government to "unambiguously" confirm its commitment to the internationally-agreed goal of limiting global warming to two degrees.
In its submission to the taskforce on post-2020 emissions reductions targets, the Climate Institute says to do its fair share Australia must cut emissions by 40 per cent by 2025 and achieve net zero-emissions by 2050.
The institute is concerned Australia's "historic failure" to plan for decarbonisation means the nation is losing ground against other developed economies.
