Coles beetroot dip recalled over allergen

Coles has recalled beetroot dip, after it was put in the wrong packaging, which failed to advise the product contained a potent allergen.

The ingredient list on some 200 gram tubs of Coles-branded beetroot dip does not include sesame, because the batch with a January 9 use-by date was put in a spicy capsicum dip container instead.

"Consumers who have a sesame allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if they consume the product," the supermarket giant said in a statement on Wednesday.

The dips were sold in Coles and Bi-Lo Supermarkets in Queensland, Coles Supermarkets in northern NSW and Coles Online.

Customers can return the product to any Coles supermarket for a full refund, Coles said.
