Clive Palmer's one-word text in response to Glenn Lazarus' shock resignation

Clive Palmer seemingly made no attempt to convince his former Palmer United Palmer (PUP) Senator Glenn Lazarus to remain in the party  - simply flicking him a one word reply via text message.

In response to Mr Lazarus’ declaration he was leaving the party, the PUP leader simple texted back: “Okay” and effectively ended the pair’s political relationship, reports The Sydney Morning Herald.

The straightforward response seems contrary to Mr Palmer’s public statements, in which he said he was “disappointed” the senator had left the party in an “unprofessional” way.

The party’s former leader in the Upper House, Mr Lazarus announced his switch to become an independent senator last night and insisted the falling out with Mr Palmer had nothing to do with the sacking of his wife, Tess Lazarus, from the party.

Mr Lazarus said the decision to quit was “difficult” and he took a contrary view of “teamwork” from Mr Palmer.
