Palmer does his bizarre ‘Goodbye Bronwyn’ routine again

Clive Palmer has done an encore performance of his unusual “Goodbye Bronwyn” message in an appearance on the ABC last night.

“Tony, if she doesn’t go, you’ll go, so goodbye Bronwyn, bye bye, twiddle-too,” Mr Palmer said on Lateline.

The leader of the Palmer United Party released a video yesterday repeatedly saying “bye bye Bronwyn” in a sing-song voice after Speaker Bronwyn Bishop finally apologised for her controversial taxpayer funded helicopter flight.

The video was published alongside an online petition calling for the Speaker to step down.

"She's demonstrated over a long period of time that she's very biased in the role of Speaker," he told Lateline.

"She's been there a long time, over 20 years, been a minister, and she's now 72 years of age. It's time to roll over and give a younger person a go I think."

He said Prime Minister Tony Abbott needed to ask her to “do the right thing”.

If Ms Bishop does not resign, Mr Palmer and fellow MP Andrew Wilkie have announced they will move a no-confidence motion when Parliament resumes on August 10.

Mr Palmer told Lateline he thought the motion could win, despite not having the numbers, if Liberal members showed “political courage”.

Ms Bishop yesterday said she would not be resigning, but apologised for letting down the people of Australia.
