Rebels bikie charged with murder of Clint Starkey

A life member of the Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang has been charged over the violent murder of a man on the NSW Central Coast.

Clint Starkey, 42, was the victim of what police called a “particularly violent” fatal bashing at the Caltex petrol station in Peats Ridge in April 2017.

The 50-year-old Rebels bikie was arrested at a home in the Central Coast suburb of Narara just after 6am today.

He was taken to Gosford Police Station and charged with murder, becoming the seventh man accused of the killing.

Six others charged over the murder remain before the courts.

The latest arrest follows a year-long police investigation, during which CCTV vision was released showing the victim being taken to the petrol station before the alleged attack.

Mr Starkey was taken to the petrol station by a man he believed was his friend at 10pm on April 5, where police allege about four members of the Rebels were waiting for him.

Mr Starkey was treated at Gosford Hospital two hours later.

He was flown to Royal North Shore Hospital, where he spent two months in a critical condition before passing away on June 12.

The Rebels bikie member has been refused police bail and is set to appear before Gosford Local Court today.
