The fiancé of a Campbelltown woman who plunged to her death on Tuesday while the couple were on a camping trip was stabbed by her three months ago.

Megan Moody's body was found at the bottom of a 23 metre cliff near Mermaid Pools at Tahmoor on Tuesday night, in an incident police described as "tragic".

Her partner, Paul Veitch, told police the pair went to find water for their billy shortly before 8pm when Ms Moody, who was walking ahead of Mr Veitch, allegedly strayed from the trail and fell.

Mr Veitch proposed to Ms Moody just days ago, according to News Corp.

Reports have now emerged detailing a domestic incident involving the couple.

In early August Ms Moody, 38, was questioned by police but not charged after allegedly stabbing Mr Veitch, News Corp reports.

An apprehended violence order was later applied for in Campbelltown Court to protect Mr Veitch, 36 and prevent Ms Moody from living with him, assaulting or stalking him.

Mr Veitch attended Narellan Police Station yesterday and is assisting police with their inquiries.
