Santa has begun his  annual journey around the world, with Australia one of his first stops.

The man in red was given fairly clear skies for his trip Down Under, well informed by the Bureau of Meteorology for any possible hiccups.

“If we put a warning out, we notice that he’ll move around those regions of turbulence,” James Taylor from the BoM told 9NEWS.

Father Christmas isn’t one to take any chances though – he told those in charge of Australia’s airspace nice and early what his route will be to ensure he gets presents to every boy and girl.

“Santa has already submitted his flight plan to us, so that air traffic controllers have ensured that he has some clear airspace, so that he can deliver all of his presents safely,” Air Services Australia’s Katie Wilkinson said.

Perth will be Santa Claus’ final stop on Perth, before he heads north to Papua New Guinea and Indonesia.
