Clean Energy Regulator denies bias

The government-funded Clean Energy Regulator strenuously denies allegations of bias, conflict of interest and a lack of integrity.

Several submissions to a Senate inquiry into wind turbines, spearheaded by independent senators John Madigan and Nick Xenophon, accuse staff of bias and a lack of professionalism over its regulation of the wind energy industry.

Regulator CEO Chloe Munro told a hearing of the inquiry in Canberra on Tuesday there was no evidence to back up the allegations, which she said were mainly based on misconceptions about the regulator's powers and the nature of the renewable energy target.
